June 5 - 8, 2022
All conference sessions, except the Opening Session and Gala Dinner, will be held in Ebling Symposium in the Microbial Sciences building.
The Microbial Sciences programs at the UW Madison conduct cutting edge research in diverse areas of microbiology, promote educational outreach to inform the public about the importance of microbiology in their everyday lives, and provide learning opportunities and spaces to stimulate young minds to pursue careers in science.
Research advances by scientists here at the Microbial Sciences Building will enable biotechnologists to develop drugs with a high degree of specificity, new antibiotics and vaccines, specialty chemicals, and natural products such as flavorings. Work with genetically engineered microbes is enabling the conversion of sunlight and waste materials into useful products like hydrogen or biodegradable plastics, to inactivate environmental toxins, and to reduce the level of greenhouse gases in the environment.
The conference opening reception will be held in Great Hall at the Memorial Union.
As one of the most beloved and historic destinations on campus, Memorial Union is the place to come socialize, relax, study, eat, and enjoy all the beautiful sunsets and lake views that Madison has to offer. Since opening its doors in 1928, it has offered a variety of social and educational activities for UW students, faculty, Wisconsin Union Members, and the Madison community. Situated on the shores of Lake Mendota, the classic architecture of the building boasts a picturesque lakeside view as well as a terrace with 600 colorful sunburst chairs – the perfect spot for an afternoon snack.
A shuttle bus will run continuously between Dejope Hall Circle (pick-up on the east side of Dejope Hall) and the Memorial Union between 3:00-9:00p.
The Gala Dinner will be held in the Alumni Lounge at the Pyle Center.
With a rich tradition of learning and hospitality, the Pyle Center, formerly the Wisconsin Center for Adult Education was dedicated as a “roof over the Wisconsin Idea.” Today, after 60 years, the team continues to fulfill the mission to provide an international community of lifelong learners with access to University of Wisconsin resources.
The campus provides free bus service. The interactive campus map includes a tab with bus routes.
UW Transportation has partnered with Madison BCyle to provide a urban bike sharing program on campus.
