The Community Engaged Veterinary Care Conference, hosted by the Program for Shelter Medicine and Community Engaged Care at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine, is dedicated to the topic of increasing access to Community Engaged Veterinary Care.

Community Engaged Veterinary Care seeks out perspectives and responds to the needs of the community to make veterinary care more accessible. In order for care to be considered accessible, it must be relevant and compassionate to the people caring for animals in addition to being financially attainable and available. By considering the context pets and people live in, and prioritizing respect for both the animals and the people who care for them, health and welfare for the whole community can be improved. Community Engaged Veterinary Care acknowledges the many barriers preventing animals and people from having access to veterinary care and works to remove them.

A more detailed schedule with speaker information will be provided soon. Please note that your conference registration fee will include indicated meals.

Space is limited and once capacity is reached registration will be closed, so we encourage early registration.

Scholarships Available

If travel costs are a barrier to your participation, please complete a scholarship application here. Scholarship funds are limited and awarded on a rolling basis, so we encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. Wire Transfers:
Please contact Conference Management at conferences@union@wisc.edu or (608) 890-2645. All expenses incurred in the wire transfer must be covered by the attendee. Please indicate the delegate's full name as a reference on all bank transfers. In the event of a negative balance, additional costs will be collected on site.

Doing Business As: The charge will appear on your credit card statement as WU-Conference Management.

Cancellation Policy: Conference registrants cancelling their registration will not receive a refund. Substitutions are accepted at any time prior to the start of the conference at no additional cost by emailing uwsheltermedicine@vetmed.wisc.edu to request. It is highly recommended that substitutions are completed by October 28th to ensure conference credentials will be ready upon the start of the conference.
