The Midwest Physician Writers Retreat is a national creative writing conference for physicians and medical trainees that will be hosted for the second year at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. 
 
This weekend retreat is designed as intentionally structured time for self-reflection, community building, and creative writing. The weekend will include guided writing sessions, advice about publishing creative work, structured time to write, and opportunities to workshop and present your writing in a public forum.  
 
Friday afternoon and Sunday morning will be hosted at the beautiful Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Friday evening we will have a welcome reception at Lake City Books. Saturday will take place at the Pyle Center with views of Lake Mendota. Saturday evening we are hosting a Story Slam. Sunday will feature time to workshop your writing and end with an open mic celebration of your work.

All cancellations must be received in writing no later than Tuesday, March 24, 2026, to receive a partial refund. After this date, all payments are NON-REFUNDABLE. If a cancellation notification is received on or before Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the registration fee is refundable, minus a $15 cancellation fee. If the event is canceled for any reason, your registration fee will be refunded. UW Conferences & Events may require up to 10 business days to process and issue a refund. Any updates on the event will be sent to the email provided. Please indicate the delegate's full name as a reference on all bank transfers. In the event of a negative balance, additional costs will be collected on-site.
