Thank you for your interest in attending Family Weekend, occurring Friday, October 20, 2023 - Sunday, October 22, 2023! As you register, please keep the following information in mind:

Family Weekend is $25 per person up to 4 people, and $10 for each additional person after that. Current UW-Madison students and guests ages 12 and under are free. This cost includes most events, activities, and receptions throughout the weekend. All participants, including your UW-Madison student, must be registered. 

The registration cost covers:

  • Behind-the-scenes access to campus landmarks, such as Camp Randall Stadium
  • A special Chancellor's reception with university leadership
  • The Badger Family Fest at the Memorial Union Terrace, featuring food, fun, and family activities
  • Family photo-ops with Bucky Badger
  • Opportunities to sit-in on UW classes
  • The Downtown Madison Cheese Walk at shops along State Street
  • Athletic events, including access to discounted hockey tickets (ticket sale will occur in late summer/early fall for registrants)
  • Music performances - and more!

*Registration fee waivers are available. Please contact the Parent and Family Program at parent@uwmad.wisc.edu before registering for more information. Please note that this fee waiver does not cover overnight accommodations, travel and parking expenses, or additional meals outside of planned programming.

Thank you for registering for Family Weekend! We look forward to your visit in October.

Below are a few important reminders:

1. You will receive event materials upon check-in for Family Weekend, either Friday, October 20 or Saturday, October 21. Check-in timing and locations, as well as additional event information, will be available on the Family Weekend website in early fall.

2. You will receive more information from the Parent and Family Program by email prior to Family Weekend. Information will include updates, opportunities to purchase tickets for additional events, and further weekend details.

3. Book with the Family Weekend hotel block until Friday, September 29!

We have worked with local hotels to offer a hotel block with special rates for Family Weekend participants. You can book overnight accommodations through this hotel block until Friday, September 29 at 5 p.m. CDT.

Please note that not all downtown and surrounding-area hotels choose to participant in the Family Weekend hotel block. Because of this, some families choose to book their own accommodations separate from the hotel block. Browse a variety of hotel options in the greater Madison area through Destination Madison.

If you have any questions regarding the official hotel block, please e-mail your questions to services@visitmadison.com or call 608-255-2537 (toll-free 800-373-6376) and ask for hotel reservations assistance. Office hours are Monday-Friday from 9am-4pm (CST).

Cheer on the reigning NCAA campion Wisconsin women's hockey team as they take on Bemidji State Friday, October 20 (7 P.M.) and Saturday, October 21 (2 P.M.). Family Weekend participants receive an exclusive ticket discount when they pre-purchase online at this link, until 5:00 p.m. the day of the game or while supplies last ($5 general admission).
